My True Blood Review

I'm a bad moderator for waiting to the last day for this though I sincerely hope you guys follow suit and post some reviews yourselves. I would hate to see this group disintegrate as I am enjoying it.

So my quick and dirty review because I actually read this a couple of months ago and didn't bother to re-read it:

I initially had no interest in this series whatsoever. I like my vampires scary and this series had GLITTER on the cover of the book. Vampires are NOT supposed to sparkle. But basically it just looked like something that belonged in the romance section even though it was labeled as fantasy/mystery. Also two genres that do not interest me. So I didn't bother.

Then the HBO series came out. And I was hooked. On the tv series I mean. I love Anna Paquin. Have ever since The Piano. And though the series had a couple of cheesy moments there were also some very hot blood drinking moments and interesting murder mystery type stuff. So on my own I decided to read the first book. Initially I was worried about reading it because the season hadn't finished but it didn't end up ruining anything because there was enough differences between the two.

The thing I enjoyed most about the book was getting inside of Sookie's head. There is a lot more going on there than we get to see in the show. It was a very easy read, fluff, so I didn't feel like I wasted any time reading it. The characters however are way more trailer trash in the book and I had to gloss over the author's descriptions of the clothes people were wearing. Why the fuck does everyone dress so fucking bad in these types of series? I'm thinking of Anita Blake too.

I'd love to go on and talk about the rest of the series as I have been reading it but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. So basically enjoyed the first book as pure fluff and a little more insight to the main character of the show.

  • Oh Hi Book Group!

Special thanks to Chris for giving me a much needed kick in the pants to post here. I'm sorry for being absent for so long. I have lots of 'excuses'…

  • One reader's reaction to Audrey Niffenegger's Her Fearful Symmetry

Almost gave up. I almost gave up on a book, which I don't like doing because maybe it gets better! Or maybe I'll learn how not to write if I keep…

  • So, um, yeah

I STILL haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of Her Fearful Symmetry. What about you guys?
